Readington Township Board of Education Vacancy

The Readington Township Board of Education is seeking a township resident to fill a seat which was recently vacated.  Interested parties should send a letter of interest and resume to Laura Simon c/o Readington Township Board of Education, PO Box 807, Whitehouse Station, NJ  08889.  The letter should include qualifications and a brief description of interest in the position.  The deadline for applications is Tuesday, January 9, 2018.  The Board will interview candidates on January 16, 2018, after which an appointment will be made to fill the seat for a one-year term, expiring in January 2019.

The legal requirements to become a member of a local board of education in New Jersey include the following:

  • Hold citizenship and one year’s residency in the school district
  • Have no direct or indirect contract with, or claim against, the Board
  • Not hold office as mayor or member of the municipal governing body
  • Be registered to vote and not be disqualified as a voter under N.J.S.A 19:4-1
